So what's this all about?
Basically I am trying to get by without having to rely on a record company, but make my music available to the public anyway. I think (or hope) that nowadays no artist should really have to depend on the music industry. It's time to finally stand on your own feet ;). The Internet is the ideal platform for this purpose. Why use middlemen if musicians and consumers can make direct contact over the Internet, which should also be far more interesting for both parties. Why suck up to record companies to get a chance for an adhesion contract (that isn't really available anyway), which will then tell you what is allowed and forbidden, and how the music should sound so that it is chart-compatible. In short: To be enslaved by the music industry and thereby to rob the music of its soul. If you succeed, why forfeit 95 per cent of the takings to finance the third Porsche of a suit in management or the 100th nerve-wrecking ad campaign for Starsearch etc. when you can barely live off your own record sales?
Something is seriously going wrong in the music business. Everybody knows that by now But the industry doesn't want to understand. Allow me to sum up:
- Missed out on electronic distribution paths - DONE
- Denounced and sued own customers - DONE
- Made products unusable to some extent by means of copy-protection - DONE
- Booted out qualified employees (=artists) and replaced with cheap labour - DONE
- Given up supporting young musicians - DONE
To be honest, I couldn't think of anything more where you could go wrongbut most of the public, including myself, seem to have the wrong impressionin truth it's only the copy pirates' fault! This is why I'm now trying to do it my own way. You can download all my songs here for FREE and play or present them anywhere you like. If you like, you can even add the music to websites or movies (in agreement with me, of course). Should you earn money by doing so you will have to get my permission first. If it fits in with my concept, I even carry out orders for a moderate remuneration. You can go to Support to buy my music on CD (hand-burned and signed and in far better quality than the MP3s). You can determine the price yourself. Simply let me know how much you consider reasonable to pay. Or, simply burn it yourself and give a small donation to me via PayPal or bank transfer (I look forward to every cent that moves me closer towards my independence ;). I would also not mind to be under contract of a record label; however, only if the following conditions are met: Firstly, I must be allowed to continue to publish the songs on this website. Furthermore, unrestricted control over my material must remain in my handsthat's all. For all that, the label will receive a finished product. Basically I'm only interested in sales and marketing. If you're interested, please write to firstname.lastname@example.org.
